From the Desk of the President
Hello,
and Seasons Greetings!
I am Ray S. Robinson, a founding member of the
Inner City Ski Club, and its current president, and it is my pleasure to thank
you for checking us out, and welcome you to our website. The members and I hope
that you find within our site information highlighting our club’s history, schedule
of trips, events and activities.
The
ICSC is the oldest African American ski club in Ohio, and we are celebrating our 40th
Anniversary, a milestone we will celebrate throughout the next eleven months,
with special events planned to commemorate the occasion. Be sure to
periodically check out our website or club hotline for event updates.
Our
club’s purpose and goals coincide with those of the National Brotherhood of
Skiers, a non-profit ski organization, of which we are a Charter Member Club,
and whose focus is to introduce and expose the African American community to
the winter sports of skiing and snow boarding, with a special emphasis on
youth. The NBS Olympic Fund Committee’s express
purpose is to find youth with an interest in skiing and/or snow boarding; to
introduce programs and procedures on a local, regional and national level, and
give support and financial assistance in their training and skills development,
with emphasis on racing,. The NBS Olympic Committee’s ultimate goal is placing
an African American on the United States of America Winter Olympic Ski Teams, a
reality in the making.
The
Inner City Ski Club is also meeting that Olympic search challenge, in the next
few weeks we will be hosting our 39th Annual ‘Bob White’ Learn to
Ski Venture at Alpine Valley Ski Center, Saturday, January 21, 2012; a great
time to learn to ski or snowboard, or just come out to ski and have some
wholesome fun with a few friends.
Our
club will again host and offer a financially subsidized five (5) week Youth
Learn to Ski – Skills Enhancement Program for youth ages 7 – 17, commencing
January 2012. Details and applications
on these events can be reviewed and downloaded by clicking the 2012 Ski Venture Flyer, the 2012 Ski Venture Application or the links located under the Featured Events to the right of this message. You can access the Youth Learn to Ski - Skills Enhancement Program Application here. Continue
to browse our site, and please sign our Guest Book before logging out.
Thanks
again for your interest in our club, we invite and encourage you to join us at
any of our trips, events or activities, and we look forward to meeting you
soon. Have a wonderful Holiday Season, a
prosperous New Year, and a great fun-filled Winter Season.
Happy Skiing,
Ray S.
Robinson, Founder
President
